What do I need for an aquatic class?
-
A
bathing suit of course. And a towel from home for the pool. We ask that you
don't use Aquafit towels poolside.
-
Water
shoes - to prevent slips and falls and provide better cushioning for legs during
class
-
A
sport Bra - a Lycra sports bra is recommended for some to wear under your suit
for a little extra support.
-
Water
- drink a lot of it! Before and after class. Being in the water actually
dehydrates you. It is recommended to have 2-3 glasses 2 hours before and at
least 1 glass right before, during and after class. A healthy snack for after
class - Swimming will make you very hungry - we suggest bringing along a healthy
snack of some kind to eat after exercising. This will help to keep you from
going home and bingeing.
LAND CLASSES AT AQUAFIT
YOGA
– A class anybody can attend. Here Yoga is taken to the
next level. This is a profound way to improve physical
fitness, flexibility, balance, posture, breathe awareness,
relief of stress, and increase your immunity.
ZUMBA
– Zumba fuses Latin and other International dance rhythms
and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic fast paced workout
system designed to be fun and easy to do.
ZUMBA GOLD
– This class takes all of the excitement from the original
Zumba class and introduces it to the active older adult, and
the beginner participants. The moves are modified and
instruction is given before each song.
PILATES
– This is an exercise method that relies on strengthening
core postural muscles and developing body alignment. The
aim of this class is not to develop bulging muscles or
cardiovascular fitness but to help your whole body operate
in an effective and efficient manner.
ABS
– 15 minutes of abdominal exercises, geared towards
strengthening the abdominal muscles. In this class you use
the stability ball, medicine ball, and some exercises on the
mats.
CARDIO/STEP
– This class is a basic step class that even the first time
“stepper” can attend. It is primarily a Step class but
there are some aerobic floor intervals thrown in. The class
will end with some abdominal work.
KICKBOXING
– Want to tone those legs and arms? Come to this class.
There are about four basic punches and a few kicks but when
put all together the routines are endless. The class is
about 45 minutes of aerobic exercise and then finishes with
some abdominal exercises.
INTERVAL
– This class brings your heart rate up for a quick period,
back down with a brief “working” rest, and then back up
again. To get the heart rate up you utilize some plyometric
moves, strengthening exercises, and aerobics. There are
always modifications offered for those with some
restrictions.
INTERVAL TRAINING – Intervals of strength/weight training
alternating with cardio/aerobic conditioning sets. Use of
hand held weights between intervals of cardio, basic step,
and dance movements. Class also includes muscle specific
and abdominal work, and stretching.
TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING (TBC)
– This cross training class includes high/low cardio
activity and weight resistance activities for muscular
strength. Class includes stretching, aerobic activity with
gradual increasing intensity to decreasing
tempo/intensity, cool down. You will use a variety of
equipment; dumbbells, body bars, and stability/balance
balls.
POWER YOGA
– This is not your traditional Yoga!! It is an upper body
strengthening workout using Yoga moves. This is a great
class to tone those shoulders, triceps, and abs. This class
is just 30 minutes and it does not matter if this is your
first time or your one hundredth time, there are
modifications to fit every level.
